Stud Services and Sales
Choosing the right stud male is essential if your breeding aim is to build improvement into each successive generation of alpaca. Producing healthy strong-framed suris with excellent conformation and quality fleeces should be first on the list. Fine tuning your requirements according to your breeding goals and selected females is the next step.
MATING OPTIONS
On Farm Mating. Your female or females (along with their cria if needed) are offered free agistment at our farm. You just select the stud male. During her stay we carefully supervise pen matings as required. Your animals can stay until confirmed pregnant by vet ultrasound scanning at your cost or by spit off.
Mobile Mating. We can visit your farm with the selected male for a supervised pen mating. We also return for spit off tests or re-mate if required. (South Auckland/North Waikato free – further afield a small charge will apply).
Drive-by Mating. If you prefer, just bring your female to our farm for a drive in/drive out mating. You will need to have a male available for spit offs and arrange for her pregnancy scanning if desired.
Live birth guarantee - All services by our stud males are backed by our live birth guarantee. In the unfortunate event of a pregnancy not resulting in a live birth or should the cria not survive the first two weeks of life, you are offered a free return service to the male.

Shadow Wood Ultimatum
Ultimatum has commenced his stud duties at Shadow Wood late 2019, we can’t wait to see his first cria. He has excellent genetics with his Sire being Baarrooka Ultimate Grove and his dam is Canchones Panzent. Ultimatum now has 5 cria on the ground. We’re delighted with them, at this early stage they show much potential.

A stroppy alpha male. Beautiful proud conformation and a fine fleece that is being carried into his later years. He has a finer bone than our other boys but has produced some very pleasing cria. A good choice to put to a solid female where you wish to improve fineness.

Shadow Wood Nitro
Nitro is co-owned with Chipperfield Alpacas. Nitro is a young male and he now has a few cria on the ground. With an impressive show career and equally impressive genetics he will have selected matings within our herd. His Sire is Canchones Diesel Plus ET who has produced high caliber progeny and his dam is Canchones Passionate, one of our elite females. Outside matings by agreement with both owners.

Potential Stud Males
From time to time we have potential stud males that are definitely worth a look at. Shadow Wood Tempo has done well at the shows with many credits to his name. Shadow Wood Loyal is another of our males with potential. Fleece statistics are available for almost all of our Shadow Wood alpacas. Young promising males are Triumphant, Legacy, Beacon, Ultimate Defiance, Ultimate Art and Amarone.
